The central location of our house to the well-known Moselle towns of Cochem and Bernkastel-Kues, the proximity to the Volcanic Eifel with its Maars or Bad Bertrich, which is only 5 km away, with its well-known Vulkaneifel Therme makes our house an ideal starting point for excursions, cycling and hiking tours.

Cities
City of Zell an der Mosel
(approx. 7km)

A black house cat is said to be largely involved in the great success of the city of Zell in international viticulture. About 150 years ago, merchants met with a winemaker from Zell to buy wine from him. However, they could not decide on no barrel and finally bought the barrel on which the winemaker's hissing cat was sitting. They had assumed that the wine in this barrel had to be particularly good because the cat defended it so stubbornly. They were right. The wine sold like hot cakes and made Zell and the 'Schwarze Katz' vineyard very well known among wine connoisseurs.
City of Cochem
(approx. 30km)

Like a queen, Cochem Castle towers over a striking mountain cone a hundred meters above the Moselle - beautiful and mighty. But all its beauty and power did not help the castle, which was built around the year 1000, when enemy troops destroyed almost all castles in Rhineland-Palatinate in the course of the wars of the 17th and 18th centuries. For almost two centuries, the ruin fell into disrepair more and more before it was bought in 1868 by the Berlin merchant Louis Ravené for 300 gold marks and rebuilt in the neo-Gothic style.
Historical Old Town Bernkastel-Kues
(approx. 35km)

Every year, the festive Christmas market takes place around the market square of the town of Bernkastel-Kues. At the foot of the over 600-year-old Michaeliskirche, the advertising circle of crafts and retail trade and the Moselle guest center invite you to an idyllic stroll. Over 40 festively decorated sales stands offer a diverse range of toys, handicrafts and Christmas tree decorations to Christmas delicacies such as roasted almonds, gingerbread and mulled wine.
The daily supporting program inspires small and large market visitors. This includes musical performances, tree decorating, open singing or the appearance of Santa Claus. The largest Advent calendar in the region at the pharmacy on the market square opens a door every day from December 1st to 24th daily at 5:30 p.m. with a small Christmas performance. A special feature for all wine lovers: The two types of quality mulled wine on tap. The white mulled wine is made from Riesling wines from the Moselle, the red mulled wine from the Dornfelder grape. Both are also available for takeaway available in the one-liter bottle.
Trier, the oldest city in Germany
(approx. 70km)

The Porta Nigra is the best-preserved Roman city gate north of the Alps. It dates from a time (approx. 180 AD) when the Romans liked to build public buildings from large blocks (the largest weigh six tons here).

In 958, Trier received market rights. The main market became the center of medieval Trier with the Steipe, the town hall's festival hall with immediate access to the city church of St. Gangolf (can be reached through the small baroque gate on the south side - the church itself is completely surrounded by houses and sales stands).
City of Koblenz
(approx. 80km)

Ehrenbreitstein Fortress is located in Koblenz. You can take the cable car directly to the city center and discover the city either on your own or book one of the exciting city tours offered by Koblenz Touristik.
